A fabulous prize for your best travel tip

As you know, I will be traveling to France in just a couple of weeks. I have been mentally preparing myself for the trip (which will be the first trip away from the baby) and slowly, but surely, crossing of my to-do’s.

I recently chatted with a dear friend at Speedo about this trip. I told him that I was looking for the best travel tips out there (my best tip is to pack an extra pair of skivvies in your carry-on in case your luggage gets lost for days-I learned this one the hard way and have packed a pair of undies in my purse on every trip since). My friend thought that this was such a worthy research project that Speedo has donated a fantastic rolling bag to the reader that provides the best travel tip.

So, do you have a travel tip for this traveling swim wife? If so and you’d like to win this fabulous Speedo bag email your tip to me at everydayolympian@gmail.com. Mark and I will determine the winner based on our own previous travel experience and the usefulness of the tip.

Along with your best travel tip, please include your full name, email address and phone number – just so that I can contact you with the good news if you are our big winner. Use "Best Travel Tip Ever" in the subject line of the email. The winner and a picture of me employing the winning tip en route to or in France will be showcased on everydayolympian.blogspot.com. All tips must be submitted before Monday June 14 to give me enough time to work them into my travel itinerary (yes, I do type out travel itineraries).

Ready. Take your mark. Tip.

  1. My best tip is to stay awake for 24 hours before the flight and sleep on the plane. This way you avoid any jet lag. I learned this after flying to Turkey and taking 3 days to adjust to the time.

  2. Hi Ashley, great blog!
Do you want travel tips for traveling with small children or alone (there's a big difference). ;)

  3. I often travel carry-on only -- but when I can't it's not just skivvies that go in my purse -- my swimsuit and goggles do too!

  4. I fly out of Louisville, which has the Makers Mark lounge right before the security check. Whenever I do a morning flight (which is typically to visit Corey's relatives)I arrive at the airport 20-30 minutes early, stop by there and have a big plate of eggs and a bloody mary. Most people stop by the Starbucks after the security check but this is a mistake because then you're jittery before and during the flight and tired once you arrive (making in-laws harder to deal with). I get a bloody mary pre-flight (making the baggage check a less onerous process) and then proceed to space out for the pre-flight, maybe nap during the flight, and arrive at said destination relaxed and ready to deal with in-laws (although needing a cup of coffee). This may make me sound like a raging alki, but it's only one drink and the eggs there are really good.
